Archos TV Connect: Set-Top-Box mit Android aus Frankreich
Smart TV’s sind seit dem letzten Jahr der Trend der Fernseher-Hersteller, allen voran Samsung und LG. Bequem auf dem Sofa sitzen und die Weiten des Internets über den 40 oder 50″ großen TV erkunden, YouTube und HD inklusive. Manche haben allerdings noch einen klassischen Fernseher ohne diesem Schnickschnack, hätten diesen aber trotzdem gerne.
Für solche Fälle gibt es seit einiger Zeit sogenannte Set-Top-Boxen, die mit Google’s Android ausgerüstet sind und damit jedem HDMI-fähigen Fernseher in einen Smart TV verwandeln können. Die erste in Deutschland erhältliche Set-Top-Box mit dem Google TV genannten System kam von Sony im Oktober letzten Jahres. Während in den USA der Markt für solche Endgeräte langsam kräftig zum Wachsen kommt, sieht es in Deutschland etwas magerer aus.
Wenn es nach dem französischen Konzern Archos geht wird sich das bald ändern, denn die Franzosen wollen eine entsprechende Set-Top-Box auf den Markt bringen. Die Archos TV Connect genannte Set-Top-Box will der Konzern kommende Woche auf der CES 2013 in Las Vegas erstmals öffentlich vorstellen, die vom 8. bis zum 11. Januar stattfindet. Schon im Februar wird es die Set-Top-Box für 149,99 Euro im Handel geben, wenn nichts dazwischen kommt und verfügt über durchaus potente Hardware.

Gesteuert wird die Set-Top-Box über die beiliegende Fernbedienung, die Archos auf den Namen TV Touch Remote getauft hat. Diese Fernbedienung verfügt über eine vollständige Tastatur sowie Gamepad in einem und erlaubt diverse Multitouch-Gesten. Erfreulicherweise hat Archos die Google-Zertifizierung für die Archos TV Connect, womit das gesamte Angebot des Google Play Store mit seinen über 700.000 Apps, Büchern, Filmen und Musik zur Verfügung steht.
