[CES 2013] Grand S von ZTE offiziell vorgestellt

Letztes Jahr trumpften vor allem auf dem Mobile World Congress die vermeintlich kleineren Hersteller aus chinesischen Landen auf, damals allen voran Huawei. Das Huawei die Erwartungen zumindest hierzulande mehr als nur enttäuscht hat ist bekannt, weswegen ZTE hoffentlich nicht dieselben Fehler macht, das vorgestellte Grand S jedenfalls hat sehr viel Potential.

Schließlich beehrte uns das Grand S von ZTE schon öfters im letzten Jahr, damals aber als Gerüchte. Nun hat der chinesische Konzern das Smartphone vorgestellt im Rahmen der Consumer Electronics Show 2013, wie immer in Las Vegas. Wie auch die Konkurrenz setzt ZTE beim Grand S, dem kommenden Flaggschiff der Chinesen für den internationalen Markt, auf eine Top-Ausstattung. Auffällig dabei: Anders als die Konkurrenz, taktet ZTE den Snapdragon S4 Pro mit 1,7 GHz höher als die üblichen 1,5 GHz.

Mit 6,9mm ist das Smartphone enorm flach ausgefallen, muss sich die Krone für das „dünnste FullHD-Smartphone“ aber mit Lenovo und dessen K900 teilen. Immerhin ist das Intel-Smartphone der heimischen Konkurrenz ebenfalls nur 6,9mm flach. Allerdings hat ZTE zugunsten des dünnen Gehäuses am Akku sparen müssen, der mit 1,780 mAh für ein Smartphone dieser Größen- und Leistungsklasse arg niedrig ausfällt. Das selbst ein 2.050 mAh großer Akku bei einem 5″ FullHD-Smartphone Probleme machen kann, musste letztes Jahr das HTC Droid DNA in den ersten Tests offenlegen. Der höhere Takt des Snapdragon S4 Pro dürfte für zusätzlich kürzer Akkulaufzeiten sorgen.

Mit dem Grand S rundet ZTE seine Grand-Familie ab, die mit dem Grand Era und Grand X LTE bereits zwei Modelle für die Oberklasse umfasst. Marktstart soll noch dieses Quartal in China sein, wobei ZTE keine Infos für Europa oder Deutschland und andere Kontinente/Länder geben konnte. Selbst zum Preis ist noch nichts näheres bekannt, dafür wird es ziemlich viele Gehäusefarben zur Auswahl geben. Die Kollegen von MobileGeeks haben zudem einen Vergleich zwischen ZTE Grand S und HTC Butterfly gedreht.

The ZTE Grand S was introduced at a special press event at the Las Vegas Convention Center and will remain on display at the ZTE booth (Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth #36612) throughout CES.

The ZTE Grand S will be available for online purchase in China first in Q1 of 2013.
