HTC bringt Web-Tool zum entsperren des Bootloaders

Wie HTC auf ihrer offiziellen facebook Seite mitteilt wollen sie noch diesen Monat ein Web-Tool veröffentlichen was es möglich macht den Bootloader eines HTC Gerätes zu entsperren.

HTC berichtet das zu diesem Zwecke der erfahrenden Anwender sich mittels einer gültigen E-Mail Adresse registrieren muss und dann umgehend einen Benutzer-Key zugesandt bekommt den er in Kombination mit dem verbundenen Gerät zum PC (inkl. anDROID SDK) und dem Web-Tool eingibt und so sein Device entsperrt. Mit dieser Anwendung stimmt der Besitzer zu, dass er auf eine weitere Garantie für sein device verzichtet.

Ganz eindeutig ist noch nicht zu verstehen ob in dem im August kommenden Software Update für das HTC Sensation und dem HTC EVO 3D nun schon der Bootloader entsperrt ist oder nur die Basis geschaffen wird um das beschriebene Web-Tool zu nutzen.

Wie folgt noch einmal die offizielle Information vom 03/08/2011:

Since our last update, many of you have asked how the bootloader unlocking process will actually work, and in particular why HTC’s most recently released devices still have a locked bootloader. Rest assured we’re making progress toward our goal to roll out the first software updates in August to support unlocking for the global HTC Sensation, followed soon by the HTC Sensation 4G on T-Mobile and the HTC EVO 3D on Sprint. Because unlocking the bootloader provides extensive control over the device and modifications may cause operation, security and experience issues, new devices will continue to ship locked but will support user-initiated unlocking using a new Web-based tool.

 

So how will this work? The Web tool, which will launch this month, requires that you register an account with a valid e-mail address and accept legal disclaimers that unlocking may void all or parts of your warranty. Then plug in your phone to a computer with the Android SDK loaded to retrieve a device identifier token, which you can then enter into the Web tool to receive a unique unlock key via e-mail. Finally, apply the key to your device and unlocking will be initiated on your phone.

In wie weit nun der offizielle Verzicht auf die Garantie auch gegenüber dem Provider Folge tragen wird muss wohl die Zukunft zeigen.
Eventuell wird es doch weiterhin vorteilhafter sein bei den XDA Developern nach einer entsprechenden Software zu suchen die es ermöglicht bei Garantiefällen das ganze rückgängig zu machen und das Gerät so Augenscheinlich in den Auslieferungszustand zurück zu bringen.
